Today we’d like to introduce you to Agne Skaringa.
Agne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been an artist since my childhood. I have always loved creating beautiful things with my hands was drawn into fashion and beauty. In my foreign country, Lithuania, I graduated from three art schools and got my bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Architecture.
When I moved to Los Angeles I started work as a model. Since then, I knew that I want to be a part of this industry, expand my creativity and be passionate about beautiful things that I can create. And in 2010, I created my company Beauty Affair – a luxury bridal beauty services.
In 2014, I got a scholarship at Cinema Makeup School to continue my education. I was selected as a finalist at IMATS, battle of the brushes- Beauty Fantasy competition. Although I did not win that year, I was not discouraged from competing in the future again.
The beginning of 2017 was absolutely in my favor! Again, I was a finalist for Battle of the Brushes, Beauty and Fantasy category. This time, my body painting artwork, the ringmaster, was nominated for the first place. I am beyond excited and honored for this achievement.
In addition, the same year, I was one of the five finalists of the biggest North America Professional Beauty Association –NAHA. I feel so blessed and inspired to be recognized in America and worldwide
Has it been a smooth road?
I believe that a makeup artist career is an adventure on a vague road. I have had a different experience as a makeup artist. Sometimes I would love and adore it and sometimes I wouldn’t. However, the most important is to be very open-minded and never give up on your dreams. If it didn’t go as I planned or wanted, it is ok. Everything is an experience and a great lesson
What’s the hardest part of your job?
The hardest part is that you never know what to expect and it is the most exciting thing too. My job is very interesting and very creative. It challenges me every time. Every time there is a new canvas, new ideas.
What are you striving for, what criteria or markers have you set as indicators of success?
For me success is happiness. In my career, success is to be worldwide recognized and work on creative interesting, well-paid projects with cool, inspiring people.
So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
I have so many plans for the future! Currently, I am preparing for very creative and amazing project for next year. It is going to be huge and shown in many different countries. However, it can not be revealed at the moment. I am planning to travel around the world and continue inspiring and educating other artists. My team and I are working on our online magazine- Hollywood Makeup Magazine. We see a bright future for it!
