Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea VonChaz.
Chelsea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started styling during college, apprenticeships with wardrobe designers and stylists. I was on my way to a showroom when my direction changed. I was stopped at a red light, when I noticed a homeless woman crossing the street. I could tell she was on her period because she didn’t really have on clothes, mainly undergarments. I was thinking about why this was happening and what could be done for someone that is homeless and gets your passport. This is where the idea for #HappyPeriod came to me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Since I have transitioned into being a founder of a nonprofit, life is much more crazier. My challenges and struggles are different than when I was a stylist. Things revolve around helping other people, making their lives easier, much more pleasant. I call the shots now. Everything I learned from working under others and making people look good, I use it all for myself now.
Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I think overall good energy has played a major part in my life, therefore transcends into my career in a positive way. I believe it’s because I try to live in the moment and pay attention selectively.
Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
A positive attitude is the major key!
Tell us about your favorite and least favorites things about our city.
The convenience of L.A., so much to do, so many new things to try. The economic gap is what I like least about the city. Every so often, I tend to dislike the people that make L.A. so “Hollywood”.
