Meet Hillary Reese

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hillary Reese.

Hillary, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always knew I wanted to be a country singer. When I was eigght, I started posting videos on Facebook and singing wherever I could. I looked up to legends such as Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, and Loretta Lynn. I started posting cover videos all of the time. I did a cover of “My Church” by Maren Morris and “Stay” by Sugarland and they somehow reached over a million views. I could not believe that so many people had heard me sing, much less liked it.

I then started to move on to my original music and started working with Kent Wells, who has been Dolly Parton’s producer for 30 years. The first time I sang for him I was so nervous that I couldn’t hold one note without my voice shaking. Thankfully he gave me another chance and the rest is history. Now, we have made a ton of music together and he is a great mentor. Now I am continuing to work on original music and work on my craft every second that I can.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This industry can be a very great and very bad place all at the same time, and that’s something that you have to come to terms with one way or another. I have had people say that they cared about me as an artist and want to help, and ultimately they thought they could make a quick buck off of me. I have had people lie to me and say that they could make me “famous” or “rich” and have their own personal greed driving there agenda. Although there is all of that crap, there are good people. I am blessed to have amazing management and family support around me.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a country music singer. Playing piano and guitar are two things I love to do also, I think it makes me a better artist as a whole. The thing that sets me apart from others is my true love for old-school country and country-rock. I love to mix those two things together and really get creative. Belting is something I would say I am known for, I can’t help myself from pushing the limit to see how high I can go and how long I can hold a note.

There have been so many amazing opportunities over this past year and I can’t choose one to be most proud of but I am happy that ever song I have released so far has had my name as part of the writers. I love seeing a song from the start to finish and being apart of it every step of the way. There have been so many amazing things happen throughout my career and I am truly grateful to have had every single experience.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m not quite sure exactly how my future is going to look. I’m leaving it up to God and how he wants things to happen. I know more music will be involved and growing as an artist will too. I don’t have every single minor detail planned, I just know that making music is my main priority. There won’t be any big changes with me personally but my music is definitely taking a turn this year in sound, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear it!
