Meet Heather Rich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Rich.

Heather, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always wanted to be an actress. I used to watch Alice and wonderland over and over and all my friends had to be the characters and I was always Alice. I did a lot in theater and always wanted to move to LA. I had my daughter at 19 and that dream was postponed being I was a single parent.

My daughter’s senior year of high school, I decided it was time for me to do what fueled my soul, so I decided to drive from Cleveland, Ohio to Dartmouth college in New Hampshire to drop her off and then to LA.

When I got to LA, I thought I was going to jump right into acting, that was far from the truth. I hit the ground running doing audience work, seat fillers and more. Then I had to pick up odd jobs to make ends meet. Back to teaching special needs children I went, along with driving lyft, taking care of adults with special needs, holding signs outside in the heat for different business and doing auditions.

In the midst of all of that somebody bust all the windows out my car and stole everything, someone tried to carjack me, and I was in two car accidents.

I say all that to say, I’ve done commercials, game shows, tv shows, and background work without any representation. I’ve remained resilient in this fast past city for almost two years all alone and I wouldn’t change one thing that has or hasn’t happened to me yet. I won’t give up and I’m here to stay.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
• Finances (never having enough money).

• Living in California alone with no friends / little family and being away from my daughter.

• Not being able to find my acting tribe of people/ community.

• Doubting myself being in a city where everyone wants the same things I do.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Everybody’s definition of success looks different; I define success by reaching your personal goals. For me that would be monetarily that also would be on a set everyday and most importantly making my family proud of me.
