Meet Heather Ralph and Christie Anderson of Point Arts Signs & Printing in San Gabriel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Ralph and Christie Anderson.

Heather and Christie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always wanted to be my own boss. I went through school, got my business degree and began my search. After stumbling into Point Arts, a printing business that was for sale at the time, I thought it may be a perfect fit. My fiancé had been a freelance graphic designer for many years, so we talked about it and we decided to go for it. She would handle the creative side, I would run the business and oversee operations.

It has been two years since then, and we have transformed this shop into a great business. We have a small team of talented people who truly love what they do.

Working in this industry has been such a great experience. Helping other small businesses improve their brand with fresh designs and solutions to their look has been very rewarding.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
A real struggle has been finding trustworthy employees. Not only is it difficult to hire people with the right skill set, I have been burned or let down many times so far. It has shown me how important it is to be on time, fulfill your responsibilities, and be truthful.

Some people can be really difficult. A lot of times customers will ask myself or Christie to speak with our “male boss”. Which was really shocking to me that so many assume we are not the bosses because we are females.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Point Arts really is a one stop shop. We do everything from business cards to window wraps, signs, vehicle wraps… and so much more. Each project is completely unique from the next, it may be a new restaurant, law office, large event, movie set… We do it all.

Something we are really known for is our graphic design and customer service. A lot of customers aren’t sure what they want, so we help guide them along the way.

We are set apart from the others in the sense that we are full service. We incorporate your original ideas into professional content our customers can be proud of.

What were you like growing up?
I had a pretty eventful childhood. I have a large family, 6 sisters and 1 brother- all with even larger personalities. I was born in California, grew up in Seattle, and moved to Orange County when I was 17. Growing up I was always playing sports. Basketball was my life and I was pretty good at. After high school I got into some trouble during this time, and eventually straightened my life out and went to school.
