Meet Heather Burgett of The Burgett Group & PR Stars in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Burgett.

Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m on a mission to help others shine their light, bring dreams to fruition and establish their legacy! I teach experts and entrepreneurs how to shine in the mainstream spotlight. When we highlight our signature gifts, that’s when we create compelling stories, capture headlines and win a global audience. I’m excited to share 20 years of public relations experience to empower visionaries to tell their stories to the world.

Originally from a small town in New England, I started my career in tech public relations in Cambridge, Massachusetts at The Weber Group (now Weber Shandwick), launching America Online as a consumer brand, and then I held a stint in hospitality PR at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston.

Next, I hopped on a plane to Hollywood to follow my dream of working in film publicity where my first movie project was “The Blair Witch Project.” I started my own PR agency at the age of 28.

As an award-winning publicist (honored with a Prism Award from the PR Society of America) that has worked with unknown underdogs to Grammy and Oscar-winning clients, my counsel has been heeded by authors, billionaires, celebrities, entrepreneurs, experts, philanthropists, rockstars, small business owners and top brands.

I’m also a published contributing writer and travel writer, and I launched my own signature aromatherapy line that garnered a celebrity following and national media coverage.

A little-known fact is that I also have over 500 hours of training in body and energy work. I use my intuitive gifts and universal spiritual principles to guide my clients into mainstream visibility. Having established a reputation as a results-oriented professional with high integrity is my cornerstone.

And representing hundreds of clients and securing major national and international editorial media attention for them is what makes all the hard work worthwhile. Press that has featured me includes the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, PR Week, Variety, CSQ: C-Suite Quarterly, and KCET-TV’s “SoCal Connected,” among others.

I’m here to serve entrepreneurs and visionaries by helping them overcome obstacles in business and teaching them how to execute their own stellar PR campaigns that generate awareness, capture headlines and impact a global audience. We do all of this so that The Burgett Group agency clients and PR Stars online program members achieve the success that they desire to live the life of their dreams by serving others.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Working in PR for over two decades has definitely included many ups and downs. One of my most recent challenges and hardships was losing my maternal grandmother. She was like a mother to me, and we were very close.

It’s actually because of losing her that I was inspired to start my PR Stars online programs to teach publicity to a global audience. I was in a state of loss and grief for almost a year, and it was during a trip to Bali that I decided it would be more fulfilling if I could help more people in the world with my experience and unique set of skills.

There are so many incredible small business owners out there that just can’t afford to hire a PR agency. They deserve awareness, visibility, and attention for their products and services, so I’m lifting the veil and teaching them how to do it for themselves!

The Burgett Group & PR Stars – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I guide high-performing socially conscious experts and visionaries who are ready to own their gifts and rise up as stars in their industries to become in-demand, globally recognized brands that positively impact the world—without blocking their own success.

If you want to be the recognized go-to leader of your niche, I can guide you into the mainstream spotlight with a spiritually aligned approach. I will show you how to enhance your image, build your reputation and raise your profile in the media with my 6-step proven formula, so you can reach the audience that you are meant to serve and joyfully claim your legacy.

I would say that my core differentiator from other PR coaches or consultants is that I teach with a foundation of core spiritual principles, and I tend to attract more spiritually-inspired entrepreneurs as clients. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they have a Yoga studio, but it means that they are on a path of personal development and also typically have businesses that are aiming to make the world a better place.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe that success is a personal experience. For example, years ago, I created an all natural aromatherapy line that ended up being in boutiques from Honolulu to Manhattan with a celebrity following and national media coverage.

I ended up folding the company, so it wasn’t necessarily a commercial success, but to me, I had created something out of nothing, and I was very proud about achieving that national recognition.

I think that most people judge success by what’s in their bank accounts, but it’s about so much more than that. If you are following your passion, feeling personal satisfaction and impacting lives, then, in my opinion, that is a clear marker for a certain level of success.

There is always room to grow, and the journey never ends, so celebrating our wins along the way is paramount.
