Meet Harry Smith of OpenHouse360

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harry Smith.

Harry, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started OpenHouse360 in 2015 because we recognized we were in the midst of a “digital shift” that fundamentally changes the dynamics of how properties are bought and sold in the modern age. In a recent home search of our own back in 2014, we couldn’t believe how scarce the property details were on popular home search sites. Sure, most all of them had pictures of varying quality and scant property descriptions, but none really stood out to us. It was frustrating. We thought to ourselves, “there has to be a better way”! This was our eureka moment and the rest is history.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The internet has reshaped our lives in profound ways and real estate is just one of the many industries being reinvented with technology that streamlines and augments the home buying experience. We capitalized on this trend by partnering with the top producing agents that were looking to give their listings more professionalism and spark. Also, since luxury real estate requires a more sophisticated and geographically diverse buyer, we helped these power agents create world-class media and messaging tools as part of their local and global marketing initiative. The results speak for themselves as our clients have been able to achieve dramatically higher selling prices with fewer days on the market. It’s really a win-win for both sellers, buyers and our agent clients.

OpenHouse360 – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
OpenHouse360’s competitive differentiator is the breadth of our service offering and the professionalism in which we deliver it. In the past, agents would have to go to 4 or 5 different companies purchase all the different services we offer. We thought successful agents would want to spend their time doing what they do best and leave the details to a company like ours that offers a turnkey solution. Turns out our timing couldn’t have been better. As the industry continues to shift online, so is the need to create dynamic digital media that engages potential homebuyers in these new and exciting ways.

Whether they are looking to attract buyers from across the county, to across the country and beyond, we give them the capability to leverage digital media that would have been cost prohibitive just a few short years ago. In fact, more than 90% of home searches begin online which makes digital media not just a luxury, but a prerequisite to any serious property marketing campaign. The confluence of this expanded digital and interactive media by the industry and steady consumption of media from prospective homebuyers through social platforms has created a chain reaction that will likely further accelerate this trend.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We are successful when our clients are. For home sellers, it all about hiring the right agent. While there are many agents out there (more than 50,000 in San Diego and LA alone!), our clients are consistently the top producers in their respective markets. We feel everyone’s interests are better served when you combine broad ranging experience with those who embrace these next generation tools.
