Today we’d like to introduce you to Harleny Vasquez.
Harleny, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Latina who was born and raised in Manhattan, New York known as “Inwood”. I have my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Hunter College and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. I was raised by a single mother and I grew up in low-income, therefore you can only imagine the lack of resources that I had while growing up, that is one of the reasons why I wanted to become a social worker. I have worked in the field of social services for over six years helping families thrive within this broken system. As a minority and woman of color, I always knew that I was meant for so much more. I knew that I wanted to make an impact and ever since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to create a better life for my mom to give her all the things she never had. I am someone who is determined, humble and always committed to the goals that I set for myself. I thrive for change.
Has it been a smooth road?
Growing up, there have always been ups and downs. Throughout the struggles, I have discovered a few of my biggest breakthroughs in which I then embraced all of my challenges as lessons. My life has definitely been a long journey towards self-love because I realized that I was the only one that can limit my abilities to succeed, and once I was able to overcome those struggles. I was amazed at what I can do.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a career coach helping social workers interview with confidence and get visible on Linkedin to secure their next opportunity with ease. I know first-hand how doubting your own abilities to succeed can inhibit your opportunities for success. I have made it my mission to empower social workers to achieve their highest potential. I provide them with the tools to develop the positive mindset that they need to be able to succeed within their role as a social worker. I want to make sure they fall in love with the profession. I am an uplifting and empowering person, here to spread awareness and positivity within this community of millennial individuals. I provide online sessions with clients 1:1 and in group settings with clients all around the world. I conduct workshops and speaking engagements for different universities around the world for upcoming social workers. I teach them about the LinkedIn platform, marketing techniques , interviewing skills, along with tools on how to enhance their confidence level, overcome imposter syndrome and prevent burnout.
Throughout my years of being a Social Worker, I came to a realization that I am my best self when helping others achieve their highest potential. I am known to be everyone’s personal career cheerleader when it comes to helping them advance in their career. My co-workers would always ask for advice regarding reviewing their resume, preparation for interviews and assistance on how to find employment. It led me to wanting to create a platform to help other social workers achieve their highest potential. I wanted to inspire and empower others to believe in their own abilities, as I wanted to not only focus on the career aspect but also on the importance of how the mind works in regards to your own success. When one of us thrives, we all thrive.
