Today we’d like to introduce you to Harlan Lovings III.
Hi Harlan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I enjoyed watching a lot of movies. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where the days could be pretty hot.
Watching movies during those hot days was my favorite pastime, and that’s when I discovered my passion for film. I wanted to know how they filmed this scene, what kind of lighting they used or what kind of camera captured such crystal clear visuals. I wanted to bring my visions to life through film.
After watching a lot of videos on the art of filmmaking, my wife Malani gave me my first Sony. I could feel it within me from that point onward, I could feel that I was doing what I had always wanted to do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has been smooth.
I am blessed to have such a strong wife and beautiful children to support me through this journey. Having the time to practice and being able to fully express myself through my choice of art, has truly made my journey worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a cinematic videographer and the cinematic nature of my work allows me to bring energy and great visuals to fashion brands and creative shoots.
I also have a strong appreciation for family-oriented visuals, while also representing my fellow African American brothers and sisters. My greatest pride comes from owning this company with my wife and children, as it allows me to spend quality time with them and provide for them while also creating the art that I love.
And now I’m able to leave behind a business for my children so they will always have a way to be financially stable.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, all praises and thanks to The Highest. He has truly blessed with me these gifts and the creativity to follow my passion. So all credit is due to him.
My parents and siblings were always a big influence on my life and career, but my biggest supporter will always be my wife Malani. Malani and my three children Zechariah, Chrisleigh, and Zoë are so incredible and amazing. Without them I am nothing and I would have nothing.
All of my success is due to the strength of my wife and her ability to continue to inspire me every single day. And for that, I will always be grateful for her and will always dedicate all of my future awards to her.
