Meet Gregory Pittman of That’s a Good Look Today in Culver City/Mid-Town

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Pittman.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a Los Angeles native who is highly influenced by my great grandfather (George Whiley). I spent most summers with him as a child in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. His entrepreneurial spirit set my map as an independent free-thinking black man even in the Jim Crow south. I was also introduced to horses, landowners and homegrown food by my people down there. I was blessed to have black panthers as teachers in the 4th 5th grade in though I was in the La unified school district. So my thinking has always been from the perspective of black power and nonconformity.

Some of my accomplishments fueled by the spirit are I am the 1st Black automotive magazine publisher in United States with Black streets Magazine, I founded the Sac Town gold Rush youth academy in Sacramento California which has been responsible for 30 at-risk youth receiving full scholarships, I was a featured comedian on Russel Simmons def comedy jam pilot held here at the Wiltern theater (the original location before moving to New York). I founded the 1st and goal football nation (a rating and ranking service)which was bought by max preps sports.

Western Lifestyle has always been a part of my life and throughout the years, I noticed that the popularity and growth did not represent our culture on a national level… Always a Jango, Posse or hate-full Eight movie representing a period piece… So I produce the Soulshot riders music group under Black saddle records…from we developed a script featuring modern day settings…while shopping the script we saw an opportunity to form an event and marketing company to fulfill the large opportunities in the black western lifestyle jenere.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The whole western lifestyle journey has been very rewarding. We currently produce the GLook ball which is the only black western ball in the west. Although COVID has postponed this year’s event, we are constantly receiving RSVPs from all over the nation. We meet and learn all the time that’s the most rewarding part…

Please tell us about Thats a Good Look Today.
That’s a goodlook today is an influencing, events and marketing company for the black western lifestyle culture. We are apparel food music etc. So you can say we are entertainment as well. We are extremely proud of the love and acceptance that we have received nationally. Our Cowboy ball and photoshoots are cool we dig it!! There are no other Black Western lifestyle influencers to my knowledge.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Don’t want to be dismissive… I would guarantee that you not one of our staff feels that the concept of luck applies to our spiritual conscience.
