Meet Joresa Blount of GoFlyy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joresa Blount.

Joresa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Before becoming a founder, I was a journalist writing about tech companies. I had started writing for a company in 2016 focused on entertainment. A few months into working with them, they asked me to do interviews with founders of startups. I didn’t know what a founder was nor was I familiar with Silicon Valley. An idea that I had for business started to feel possible as I talked to more and more founders. What stood out was that most of them didn’t have experience in their industry but they were wildly passionate about solving a problem.

In 2018, I started to take steps toward building what GoFlyy is today. Through programs and pre-accelerators like Grid 110 based in Los Angeles and later Founder Gym, I was able to expand my knowledge on what it takes to run a successful business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. For one, it’s 2020! We thought we would push for another beta test in April, but then all the retail stores closed.

I didn’t want time to just keep passing by, so I decided to create and launch a product for the times to get our name out there. We created an essentials kit that includes a mask, hand sanitizer, wipes, and gloves. We were able to generate some revenue to put back into the business as well as get our brand out there.

As a leader, I feel my job is to turn a closed door into an open one or build a door.

GoFlyy is an on-demand delivery and returns service for fashion and beauty brands. So think of your favorite food delivery service and then make it fashion…that’s us.

We pick up the shopper’s online purchases and deliver to their door, and we return/exchange items at the store if things don’t work out as well as items from rental clothing services. We make it convenient and safe to shop.

We currently have 8 retail partnerships across Los Angeles and New York City. We plan to be a huge support to a number of stores during this holiday season and beyond.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I took myself so seriously! LOL. I was a perfectionist. Always an achiever. I did have a pretty great childhood from Girl Scouts to beauty pageants to being in the drama club.
