Meet Gloria Holdrege of Mini Bites Catering & Dessert Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Holdrege.

Gloria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been lovingly whipping up wonderful morsels for over a decade for family & friends and now I have recently begun mini bites catering & dessert bar.

I moved to the South land from Chicago after art school and opened and operated an art gallery in Long Beach California. I had an opportunity to move to the South of France which I couldn’t pass up. So I lived in the south of France for 4 years which gave me the opportunity to travel all of Europe and experience the culture & the wonderful foods from the different countries. But once back in Los Angeles I decided to follow my true passion, art, and food with a sprinkle of entertainment and Vola! Mini Bite Catering was born.

With my international perspective and artistic rich foundation, it continues to push my creative approach to food. I truly believe that food is like art, a very personal and delicious experience that touches on every level of our senses, taste, touch, smell, sight but most of all our memories.

My mission is to create wonderful food and an environment where creativity and innovation are fun. But also maintaining only the highest standards in quality, service, and presentation …Bon Appétit!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As for the struggles, they are a continuing story! I left my position as a Senior Accounts Analyst to put my all into my dream. So jumping off the cliff has been scary but at the same time fulfilling. First and foremost, I still have the responsibility of taking care of a sick parent along with the business, marketing, meeting, client relations and the fun part creating new recipes! time seems to be my only real obstacle.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about mini bites catering & dessert bar – what should we know?
What I learned when I was in Europe is that the meals are small. And they are shared by the group, also affordable by the average person. So what Mini Bites is known for are the appetizers and the mini desserts. We also do the regular size sweets or savory foods. I am the Owner/Chef so I do the all the food. The question of what we are proud of most as a company is the out reach we do in the community, the homeless, abused women & children.

As for not being part of the mainstream, we as a catering company work with the client and their budget to give them the event that they dreamed of.

My Mom, Beatrice Blalock, who has stood by me thru all my ups & down with my zany ideas. my daughter, Andrean Jacobs that keeps me tuned into all that social media world and helps with the business and Erol Sarabi, my friend since school days from Chicago he has been and continues to be my voice of reality and occasional waiter !
