Meet Glendale Graphic Designer and Web Developer: Carlos Sosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Sosa.

Carlos, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Graphic Designer/Web Developer who loves design, code and never holds back on learning new things. A Cal State Northridge Alumni with a B.A. in Fine Arts, I was involved a lot in college especially in the design community. A SAGA member and leader (an AIGA Student Chapter), involved in The Design Hub working with non-profit organizations on several design projects and became a freelance designer for CSUN VISCOM as well. My college experience was great, having great professors/mentors and collaborating with great students. I am currently also an active member of the Dribbble Los Angeles Community and attend their meetups and an active member of the Behance community here in Los Angeles.

I have developed many skills over the course of my career, finding the areas I love to do. My primary focuses are Digital Illustration, Brand Identity, Interaction/Visual Design, and Web Design/Development. I love working with others in a team environment and value the things I can learn from others. I strive to continue to grow in my career to give the best experiences on the web and in design, which gives me the passion to never stop learning.

I have a passion to continue to grow in my career in design and follow my dreams.

Has it been a smooth road?
Yes, I have had struggles along the way. As I started my career in Graphic Design I struggled to find myself as an artist, find my own aesthetic, and not knowing exactly what area I wanted to fall into in this field. However, as I continued to educate myself and grow I believe I have improved a lot more since I started and will continue to do so. I have also found out the areas I like to do in design along the way. I am a true believer of potential, education, and having mentors in my career and I believe there is always room for improvement and never giving up.

Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I think the best time that luck played in my career was in College, surviving my design classes and my professors being tough on me.

Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
Characteristics that drive me in my career are education, following my dreams and to never stop learning.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love about Los Angeles is its diversity and the many opportunities it offers in any career! The least I like about Los Angeles is the traffic….
