Today we’d like to introduce you to Glacial Palms.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
The three of us (siblings Rafael, Fiona, and Gabe) started out singing CSNY covers and were inspired to start an original project – Sikemor. A few years into playing together, we started collaborating with good friends Shane Graham, Andrew Gleason, and Bertrand Vellky. With new members and a sound that was evolving from folk-based indie-pop toward dream pop/art rock, it felt like the right time for a name change. Glacial Palms was born.
Please tell us about your art.
We write music that’s honest and personal, which often has political undertones. The origin of a song often just flows out – as if it came from somewhere else. After the initial inspiration comes, we usually agonize over the details, like any perfectionist artist would. We want to connect with people through our music and transport listeners to our ethereal dream world.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Go to a local show! Support your friends and go to shows by yourself. You’ll be surprised by the amazing people you meet.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
We gig around East LA quite a bit, and we just released our first EP, ‘Dreams Elusive,’ which is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud!
