Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Boone and Jennifer Hilton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gina and Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We’re Gina and Jen born and raised in SoCal and besties since the 5th grade. We have always had a love for fashion, from shopping for our 1st day of junior high to picking out our wedding dresses. As a couple of gals that are no longer in our 20’s, we noticed that it was difficult to find on-trend outfits. Crop tops really aren’t really an option anymore!! That’s when we decided something had to be done!
And then came West Coast Habit. A place where women of all shapes and sizes can find something that makes them feel Beautiful! Our SoCal style is somewhere between boho beach babe and that edgy L.A. look. Our goal is to have your everyday outfit or that special statement piece. We take pride in maintaining that boutique style at affordable prices.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve had a great experience so far but have definitely hit a few bumps in the road. For two moms that have been out of the workplace a while it was quite an adjustment. For example, who knew people purchased clothing via Instagram. Also, the amount of time that goes into maintaining a social media page is insane! We noticed that we were a little rusty when it came to all the techy stuff including building a website.
One of our other big struggles was figuring out what our customers wanted while maintaining our brand. We were so excited on our first shopping trip we bought a lot of things that we thought our customers would love. That wasn’t the case, so check out our sales page.
West Coast Habit – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an online women’s clothing/accessories boutique. Occasionally we have pop- up sales where customers can see the clothing in person. Also, we have a display in a local salon (Eight & Main Hair Lounge) and planning on going into another in 2020. Salon owners seem to love this service because it takes the burden off of them yet still make a fun experience for their clients. We also offer our traveling boutique to businesses who are interested in having us at their event.
We specialize in having a wide range of sizes and pride ourselves in handpicking every item. We are most proud of making women feel they are important, current, relevant and beautiful no matter what shape they are. What sets us apart is our price point. Our customers continue to tell us how they love our unique pieces and love our prices even more.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment would have to be our one year anniversary! We celebrated by hosting a successful two-day pop-up that was really a party with our loyal customers, family and friends. The cherry on top is being women in business and most importantly showing our daughters to not be afraid to chase their dreams.
