Meet Gili Niv

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gili Niv.

Hi Gili, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a personal shopper and jewelry specialist in Los Angeles. After graduating college in Fashion Marketing, I started working in a high end retail boutique and quickly grew a clientele that i was able to later work with on a more independent level as a personal wardrobe stylist. During that time i also started a successful lifestyle blog called The Tip Jar which i ran for almost a decade! Since then and after having my two daughters, I’ve continued to do personal shopping and added private jewelry sales onto my services. It’s something I’ve always been passionate about and the industry my mom has been in for over 30 years. I work with some of my favorite jewelry designers and curate pieces for clients…for themselves, for gifts, and designing and manufacturing custom pieces. It has quickly become the majority of what I do now, sprinkled with styling and personal shopping. Jewelry to me is something that lasts well past just one season, it always fits and you can always add more pieces to your ever-growing collection…and layer it all!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There will always be obstacles! When starting out in my 20’s, I didn’t have the money to hire a team of people to help grow in the way I envisioned. So I wore many hats, as you always do as an entrepreneur. You have to also come to terms with your business and personal life changing after you have children. Your attention is instantly split in many directions and it takes a minute to figure out a new normal. Another challenge for me personally is that it took me quite a while to embrace social media and making myself post on a regular basis! But all of these obstacles of course get easier over time and you figure it all out.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in personal wardrobe styling and private jewelry sales. That means that I help my clients enhance their personal style with pieces they love, that look great on them and that will stand the test of time. I’m not a stylist who goes into your closet and tries to push my own style on you. I have gotten very good at being able to pick up on what your own style is (or should be) by just looking at some of the pieces you own in your closet. Another passion that has turned into a larger part of my business is personal shopping for fine jewelry. I’ve been working with some amazing jewelry designers for years and began getting requests to pull a curated collection for clients with my favorite fine jewelry pieces. Since then, clients come to me for custom pieces, hard to find luxury jewelry and watches and most often—everyday pieces to mix and layer that they never take off. I also offer prices that are very competitive and always an honest opinion!

What matters most to you?
My family first of course. Especially this past year during the pandemic, we’ve had both girls home full time so juggling my business with zero childcare has been difficult. But at the end of the day, they always come first. As far as work goes- I love, love, love when my clients feel good about their new wardrobe or piece of jewelry that they live in. It’s remarkable how much it completely changes a person’s mood or self-confidence! My favorite thing is when I receive a text or email with pics of the pieces they’re wearing and a note saying, “I never thought I’d wear anything like this but you were right and I love it!”
