Meet Gabriel Avram

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Avram.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m a Romanian guy who lives in Italy, near Rome.

I’m 20 years old graphic design student, and I also do a part-time job as a graphic designer for a startup.

I’d say that I have always been into creativity, I really enjoyed drawing a lot of time ago but I stopped, I also have been using photoshop since

I was 13 I think, but at first, I used only for random stuff, I started using it more seriously for two years now.

Please tell us about your art.
I love creating photo manipulations on Photoshop by combining lots of photos together.

I love doing that because I can transform my ideas into something visible, something real that people can look at and I do it with passion. I usually create surreal photos because with those the only limit I have is my imagination and that sounds pretty magical to me, kinda like a dream.

Every photo of mine has its own message, but I love the quote that says “Art is what you make others see,” so everyone can see something different in my photos, there’s no right or wrong interpretation to them, it’s just something personal. I really like the idea of being able to make someone feels something just by looking at my photos.

I’m actually not one of those persons who get tons of ideas just like that. Usually, it’s pretty hard for me, so I have to really focus and think about what to create next. The inspiration for my work can come from pretty much anything: music, movies, art, really anything can be helpful.

What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think that life has become easier for artists because of the internet and social media. People tend to talk only about the negative parts of social media, but there are some positive too, it gives you the opportunity to reach a lot of people, to share your work with everyone, it’s really helpful for artists.

I think cities could organize more artistic competitions, do exhibitions, anything that could help somehow artists show their work and being appreciated for that.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can see my work on Instagram, my username is @galaxigabriel, and they can support me by simply telling me what they think about my work, by sharing it if they enjoy it, simple as that.

I will soon make prints of my work available so that will be another way to support me.
