Meet Gabi Villalta of Glambi in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabi Villalta.

Gabi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey started in 2017 when I decided to drop out of Arizona State to pursue a different career path. I would spend my time in class on Instagram constantly looking at makeup, fashion, and anything of the sort. One night while studying, I had an epiphany and realized that I did not want to pursue my current degree path, I wanted to do something beauty-related. So the next day, I went around the valley in search of a beauty school that would fit me. That’s when I came across Kensington Makeup Academy in Scottsdale, AZ. I went on to become a certified makeup artist. Through Kensington, I got my first opportunity to do a major runway show, which was Phoenix Fashion Week. Around this same time is when I met my good friends/business partners of Luxe & City, a members club for people in the creative industries.

From that point on, I would regularly do makeup for editorial, runway, and bridal clients, as well as help put together various events for the creative community with the Luxe & City team. In 2018 the idea of Glambi Cosmetics was born and in 2019, I started to turn my dream of having my own cosmetics line into a reality. In early 2020 I decided to leave my full-time corporate job and pursue my entrepreneurship one hundred percent. I spent my weekdays making Glambi Cosmetics come to life and my weekends giving my clients beautiful makeovers. Fast forward to April 2020 and Glambi Cosmetics is now officially launched. This first launch included five beautiful styles of luxury faux mink and mink eyelashes. Glambi Cosmetics is currently working on our next launch and expanding its range of quality luxury products.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve definitely had some struggles along the way. I believe that nothing worth having comes easy. Although I’ve definitely made it look smooth sailing, the road to get to where I am today has come with many sacrifices. I’ve given up having a steady income to almost being evicted and having to live at one point with no electricity, all in the name of wanting to focus on pursuing my passions and not having to work for someone else.

Things like building my clientele, networking, going out of my comfort zone, and learning new skills outside of my field in order to do things I didn’t have money to pay for, have all been apart of my journey.

Learning the ins and outs of doing good business as well as still being kind-hearted in an industry that can often be so cold.

All those things have helped me learn, and put me in the right direction to now be in a successful and positive chapter in my life.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Glambi story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a published makeup artist, the owner of Glambi Cosmetics, and I am also a core member of Luxe & City. As a makeup artist, I specialize in editorial and bridal makeup. I absolutely love being on set for a shoot. I always bring great energy, friendliness, and love into any job I take on. My recently launched brand Glambi Cosmetics aims to bring a wide range of quality products at an affordable price to every makeup lover out there. Currently, our products include mink and faux mink eyelashes and we are working on releasing our next set of products.

As a core team member of Luxe & City, I aid in the production of many events that cater to people within the creative industries with the initiative to make new connections and build our community. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am very knowledgeable in multiple fields and I can wear many hats. I am not only limited to the beauty and fashion industry but have also worked in areas including marketing, production assisting, and web design. I am always adapting and perfecting my skills as a creative and as a business owner.

What I’m most proud of as a businesswoman is my ability to always be authentic and make genuine connections with everyone I meet as well as my willingness to help others achieve their goals. I believe that helping someone else shine will never dim your own light.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe that everything happens for a reason. Whether good or bad, I believe God has a plan and my road to success has been written. The good and the bad situations that have happened along the way have all been lessons learned and I’m grateful for them all.
