Today we’d like to introduce you to A.G. Billig.
Thanks for sharing your story with us A.G. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
The 2015 London Book Fair—one of the major events in the global publishing industry—was an AHA moment for me. It made me realize the more and more people will ride the wave of publishing democratization, started by Amazon and express their creative gift of writing. The next question was, “How can I help these people?”
After a day or two of soul-searching and market research, I came up with the idea of creating an online platform that educates, elevates, and empowers authors to successfully self-publish and also serves as a catalyst for the international self-publishing community.
I have been writing fiction since I was eight and got my first contract with a publisher in 2012. I also have ten years of experience as a PR and branding expert, TV and radio host and producer, and editor-in-chief of lifestyle magazines. I’m using this experience to help authors when I write articles and interviews for our blog, work with them as an author and self-publishing coach, create online courses, or assist them with book marketing.
Basically, if you are a first-time or aspiring author and don’t have a clue how to self-publish your book, you should check our blog and give us a call. Same if you’ve already self-published your book, but aren’t quite happy with your sales or visibility.
Has it been a smooth road?
When you’re passionate about what you’re doing and really want to serve people, every bump in the road becomes an opportunity to learn and step up your game.
The self-publishing industry has tremendously grown since 2015 providing huge opportunities (and equal challenges) to authors and different categories of professionals such as art designers, editors, videographers, PR and marketing specialists. We all need to cut through the noise, build visibility and trust.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Self-Publishing Mastery – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our mission is to help authors succeed in their writing career. We know how daunting the publishing process can be especially for someone who’s just getting their toes wet, so we’re here to hold their hand and assist them on their journey.
We take pride in having a global vision and approach and encourage authors to do the same. The US is a large market, but let’s remember that 20% of the Earth population—approximately 1.5 billion people — speaks English. Imagine 1% of these people buying your books.
The writing community is one of the most selfless and tight-knit out there; our way of paying it forward is to provide great free content on our blog. Although we don’t use pricing as the main differentiator from our competitors, we do believe in delivering high value for the money while accommodating different budgets.
If you plan to self-publish and become a full-time author you should keep in mind that self-publishing is a business. It takes an initial investment of time, energy, money to make a profit.
We also don’t believe in quick schemes, shortcuts and one-size fit it all solutions. That’s why we provide tailored services based on an initial assessment of the author’s real needs. We’re happy to assist authors with their book marketing, book launch campaigns and events, author brand building, Amazon page optimization. For those who want to learn how to self-publish like a pro, we offer one-to-one and group author coaching.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
LA is such a unique place! It brings out the best in me. I love that I can go to a yoga class in the morning and to a rock concert at the Hollywood Bowl in the evening. I also love the way cultures from around the world blend into something new and original.
I am grateful for the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most talented artists in the world. I like the way authors support and help each other. The combination of spirituality and pragmatism in some people amazes me. Nature is at its best. If only the air quality was very good instead of moderate, all would be perfect.
