Today we’d like to introduce you to Freeway Rick Ross.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Former Drug KingPin. I stared my drug business with $250 between me and my partner. We took our $125 each and turned that little bit of money into a 3 million dollars a day enterprise. At the time, I was unaware that the money that I was making and using to reup with, my plug was dealing with the CIA and they were funding a war against the united states. My run as a drug Kingpin came to a hault. I ended up catching a life sentence at the age of 28 and got the life sentence overturned by the age of 38 by teaching myself how to read and learning the definition of Contentious Criminal Spree. Those three words saved my life.
Upon my release, I had plenty of people hitting me up for my life story. Nobody wanted to pay me what I was worth. They just wanted to make money off of my name. I also had another battle to fight now that I was free. My name had been stolen by a rapper. I just don’t understand how a grown man could allow his ego to be so big that he refuses to acknowledge the man whom he wanted to be like. I pushed through that situation and left it alone. In 2019, I applied for my marijuana license and was granted such. Not only do I have my marijuana license and my own Marijuana brand (LA KINGPINS) but I’ve also stepped over into the wonderful world of boxing with my own advisory company called “TEAMFREEWAY”.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t use the words smooth or struggling for my life. I would just use the words “Living life”. I’ve always been prepared for anything. Even though they gave me life in prison, I continued to work on myself and bettered myself because I knew in my heart that I was coming home one day. When I came home, even though the odds were against me, I marched ahead and began trying to find resources to build finance for my family and community.
What else should our readers know?
I just partnered with the Cure Company, one of the largest Marijuana growers in California and dropped my own strand of cannabis called “Freeway”.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is simply staying with my mom. I love my mom.
