Meet Frances Harvey of My Solution Services in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frances J. Harvey, C.P.C.

Frances, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been managing and setting up offices/businesses for over 30 years. Prior to starting My Solution Services, Inc. (MSS) I was the Director for a large mental health agency for 8 years. This is where I learned about the world of mental health, therapists, how to run a center/practice and more. After 8 years, I resigned my position and stepped out in faith with my cell phone, home computer, skills, knowledge, and experience to start my own business – Online Business Management for Mental Health clinicians around the world. This was in April of 2014. My goal, in the beginning, was to make enough income to replace what I had walked away from and pay our house mortgage.

A month before I resigned, I did a guest blog for a therapist who provides practice building information to therapists, and within the first 3 weeks of opening my business, I had 3 clients. Then in the next 3 months, I had 10 clients! By 6 months in I realized this was going to be way bigger than just me, so I took another leap of faith and hired an IT specialist! By the end of the first year, I had also hired a Phone Specialist.

The business did 5 figures in an 8 month period. MSS continued to grow and by May of 2015 I added another Phone Specialist and was getting things ready so I could take a trip to Germany for my first grandchild – Lilly Mae – to enter the world in July. I stayed a month and worked while I was there. By the end of 2015, the business had doubled revenue from 2014.

We started off in 2016 strong, growing like crazy and hiring more Phone Specialist. BTW – I train each one (often in groups of 2-3, and it is a very specific training for the mental health field that lasts about 15 hours). At the beginning of 2016, I had a goal that in a 3-5 year period I would have up to 10 Phone schedulers on the team, and we continued to grow. We ended 2016 by more than doubling the 2015 revenue and hit 6 figures!!! At this point, I was truly amazed.

Then in January of this year, I was connected through my daughter in law who is a military spouse, to a non-profit organization that helps the military spouses start careers called America’s Career Force. They have been a HUGE resource in helping me find some of the most AMAZING team members all over the USA. As of January I have hired 10 military spouses to join our team. It thrills me to no end that I can be a vessel to offer consistency and meaningful work they can take anywhere in the USA!

By April of 2017, I had 10 schedulers! And now I am setting a new goal for an additional 10! In addition, we now have 2 IT Specialist, 1 full time and 1 part time support admins, an insurance biller, and an event planner on the team and still going strong. I will be doing a large event live in Anaheim this December and look forward to possibly doubling yet once again in 2018!

The need is so great for therapists to have the support and services of someone that has the experience in their world. My goal is to make it available to as many as we possibly can and yet not compromise on the quality of service that My Solution Services, Inc offers.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
NO… and it will continue to have its growing pains because it’s just a part of being a business owner. I have had a lot of challenges but I REFUSE to compromise on the type of service we offer. I grew up in a home where mom and dad owned a business and from the time I was a little girl I watched them and learned how to treat people, how to provide good, quality service and how to build relationships with people. If you build relationships with people, people will build your business.

I have had struggles with certain clients, but end the in there is ALWAYS a way to part amicably – which is super critical because this is reputation and reputation can make or break you!

I have worked very LONG and hard hours. Definitely more hours worked than I paid myself, but that has paid off in the growth of the biz. This will change soon.

Then there is self-doubt and fear. OMG have you ever tried to start a biz? I had two babies naturally and that was wayyyyyyy easier to go through. Although I have managed people and businesses and have experience and skills, running a business is much different and was un-treaded water for me. I was finally about to hire a business coach in June of 2016 to help me walk through this journey but it was scary at times because it meant financial commitment!

But someone once told me, I only HAVE to do TODAY!

We come alongside them to provide services with experience, specialized skills, and a personal touch to help grow and maintain their business; to ease the burden of everyday tasks given them “More Time to Do What You Do Best”.

We specialize in helping therapists in private practice or with centers managing the everyday tasks of their business. We bring knowledge, specialized skills, experience, and a team that truly cares about them and their clients, and we come with a heart of truly caring about those we work with! We work with people and businesses from all walks of life and can provide faith-based services to those who wish to incorporate their faith into business.

What sets up apart is we provide quality Online Business Management and services that are customized to fit the individual needs of each practice or group practice. Each client gets what they need for their practice and they do not have to pay for services that don’t match how their world functions.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?

The Future? – We are in a constant state of growth. I hire ever 2-3 months because the clinicians keep coming. They need help.They need support and they need someone who knows and understands their world! I am so motivated each morning to wake up and see what the new day has, who we can help and how we can support this amazing industry that works so very hard to bring hope, help, healing and good mental health to our families, communities, and the world. WE NEED THERAPISTS!

So my plans for the future are continuing to find and hire more military spouses and other great team members, to services as many clinicians as possible and to look at ways to expand. One of the far our  future goals is to expand Internationally. I have already had several therapists reach out to us from other countries for help, however, the challenge is the technology and exchange rates. You see our most popular service is our Phones and Scheduling and I just have not figured out yet how to make it happen overseas! But I WILL!
