Meet Fernelle M Louis of Diverse Fashion Week in West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernelle M Louis.

Fernelle M, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am the founder of Diverse Fashion Week. Our first launch was on October 26th, 2019 and it was a successful show. Los Angeles is a very tough place for women in the industry especially dealing with body issues and feeling you are not good enough. I want to change that and make a difference in my community. It is my mission to bring awareness to Body Empowerment in Los Angeles which I think is a huge issue. This October I’m planning on doing an event where I will offer women men, transgender, transexual, gender nonbinary, gender non conforming and gender-fluid the opportunity to walk in a fashion show where they can feel special regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, size.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road especially dealing with this industry-standard beauty and what a model should look like. We at diverse fashion week believe everyone can be a model. There shouldn’t be a height, weight or look requirement. That is why we created this platform to make everyone feel welcome and beautiful in their own skin.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Diverse Fashion Week story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a fashion show platform who gives designers an opportunity to showcase their collection and story. We also give models an opportunity to shine and showcase themselves, their unique look to the world.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my company as being a successful top fashion show company. We are the future game-changers. We will impact the fashion show world and make a name for ourselves. Not only make a name but make a huge difference.
