Meet Floresca Isme of ETANA New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Floresca Isme.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Floresca. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a first-generation Haitian-American. Originally from Boston, MA but Florida raised. Growing up, I always had a passion for Modeling and Fashion Design. I didn’t really fit in growing up, the standard bullying occurred on a regular basis to me. I was the skinniest girl in the room, the timid one, my dark complexion; I was an open field for bullying in school. As I navigated through High School into College a lot of that changed. My passion for the fashion industry continued to grow.

When I moved from Florida back to Boston, Is when I began to dive deeper into Modeling as a profession. After a few years in Boston, I decided I needed to make the move to New York. While I was learning and navigating this city my growth as a person, Mom and wife-to-be really allowed me to step into my own and build an unshakable foundation for my confidence. I realized as much as I love to model, I also love design. It was after four years of making small steps with my brand in regards to creations, That a year ago I decided to go all in and launch ETANA New York – A luxury lifestyle brand – from the office to home – From our authentic, functional handbags to our hand-poured designer CBD candles.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road to say the least. As an entrepreneur with a day job balancing it all has been tough. Time management has been one of the biggest obstacles because when you first start your business you are so zoned in that its almost like tunnel vision at times. Every time you think you are done with something you have something else to do that needs immediate attention.

Another obstacle that I faced was and is the learning curve right. So, branding, marketing ads, mass emailing, dealing with manufactures all of these obstacles had their own challenges that they presented. It was the understanding of trial and error that really allowed me not to quit. For example, I learned manufacturers run into unexpected delays some times, if you don’t place your inventory order in time this can set your time frame so far back with those delays it can be detrimental to your business and send you into a damage control frenzy.

ETANA New York – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The ETANA New York mission is to empower consumers in a fashionable way to live up to the highest expectation of one’s self.

Consumers and Organizations support our brand due to the authentic experience created with all of our products. Our brand is stretched around multiple ideas from fashionable clothing to durable- authentic handbags to designer candles. The concept all stems from the premise of the dedication to an ever-changing lifestyle and the strength to live up to the highest expectations of one’s self.

All of our products are made with vegan materials and are ethically sourced.

I am most proud of what we stand for through our ETANA NY Initiative – We offer our consumers a lasting experience that they in return create a lasting experience for someone in need through proceeds donations for various causes. It is very important to me to ensure that a luxury experience does not just stop after the purchase or even after our products are used. The goal is to create a domino effect that takes place, so the experience will eventually reach someone in need that will be empowered to grow and overcome any circumstance.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by lasting experiences. To me, being able to produce product that is empowering and nurturing to self-growth as a brand is my marker. I love to hear about the way someone feels when they wear their ETANA NY bag or how relaxed someone felt after burning our designer candles. The more those experiences are created the more successful I feel. For myself, my family and for my culture. It means the mission is being completed on a daily basis.
