Meet Erlinda Meighan of Choose Herbs 4 Health in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erlinda Meighan.

Erlinda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was a young child, I remember having very bad headaches. The doctors could not figure out what the problem was. As I was growing up, I also remember having to stay home from school anytime my menstrual cycle came to town because I would be in so much pain. Like most teenagers, I ate mostly the wrong things and I ate a lot to try to put weight on because everyone gave me such a hard time because I was so skinny. I was moody at times, didn’t like to smile or be around people. I thought it was just my personality.

Later in life, I put the puzzle altogether. I found a lot of my issues were related to my eating habits which made me malnourished and constipated. I worked with various herbalists who gave me herbs to help cleanse and rebuild my body. As I started feeling better, I decided to take various cooking classes. This lead to my journey of feeling better through diet, nourishment and healthy living, which opened my mind to understand why I felt the way I did. Once I was feeling better, I noticed I was thinking clearer too and realized that good healthy nutritional habits improved my state of mind and in turn, I later learned that reducing stress in our daily lives generally improves our health as well. Over time, through my personal journey of healthy nutrition, using herbal supplements and striving to reduce stress, my general physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health improved greatly. I now, love life and people and I want to help others do the same.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wanted to help people through nutrition and better living. I was limited by my full-time employment and I didn’t have the courage to go out on my own, but life/work circumstances put me out on my own. That day, I was terrified on my way home, but by the time I arrived, I felt relieved and excited to start my journey.

Starting my journey was not an easy road. I did not know anything about computers except the basics from my previous employment. I had to learn how to use various apps on the cell phone. I found friends to help me start my website, which ended up crashing later. I had help with product formulation which I later found out was not done correctly by the manufacturer. I needed help with social media. One by one, people would come into my life at the right time and take me to another level. I am great talking one on one, but in front of an audience, no way. I learned to talk in front of people and I speak at a Nursery once a month. Now, I am invited to homes, lunch and learns, etc. and share as best I can. Life has its ups and downs, but I love the outcome of someone thanking me for helping them improve their lives.

Choose Herbs 4 Health – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is about empowering people to take care of their health by incorporating simple changes that will last a lifetime. We are what we think, eat and drink. We are what our body absorbs. We are what we do not eliminate. I help guide and encourage people to be happier and healthier by incorporating healthy lifestyle habits, choosing simple food alternatives and herbs and by becoming more aware of what we are putting in our body. I help guide you to stop negative, unhealthy habits (physical, emotional, spiritual) and start new healthy habits that will create a powerful healthy life. I help you to love yourself and take care of yourself because if you as a mother, father, brother or sister, etc. are not healthy then, you cannot take good care of the rest of the family. We all are replaceable at work but not at home.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I have grown from my life’s experiences. What I do is take the time with each of my clients to find out about their emotional issues and physical conditions. Health is an accumulation of what you do that makes you feel great. I am very patient, but I only work best with people who are serious about their wellbeing too. Stress is our worst enemy. I share as much healthy alternative recipes and anything that can bring less stress into our lives.
