Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik-Jan Pliner.
Recognized at age five winning a coloring contest and ever since painting and creating. Born Erik-Jan, mother from Amsterdam, father from Chicago.. Add to that a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Art and mix this with an eclectic 30-year resume of sales, you’ll get to Erik the Artist of today. From corporate to entertainment, royalty to random the bottom line is generating revenue from artwork and making a difference in the world.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, a super challenging and taxing road and journey. Officially launching Erik the Artist in 2003, the focus was attaching artwork and portraits to the celebrities and sales revenue from merchandise heavily directed to charities. While hustling opportunities late 2010 my wife Ana became pregnant with our daughter, and I reentered sales into a Fortune 100 company, thinking painting can’t struggle to support a family. Though as it turned out, a Tim McGraw painting opportunity came along and swept me back, though the opportunity didn’t pan out. Then avoiding corporate sales hours, I started acting. Not only fun but put me onto the NFL 100 Superbowl Commercial with over 40 legends of the game. In scenes with Marshawn Lynch and Ed Reed, my conversation with Ed actually led to me painting him, flying it to Baltimore and we are close to working a merchandise agreement to assist funding his foundation through this merchandise I create.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize in multi-layered paintings on plexiglass with illumination and merchandise created therefrom. Prints are made in dimension virtually identical to the originals any size, extremely eye catching, captivating and truly something most people have never seen. This uniqueness translates into fantastic revenue generation with easy fulfillment. These multi-layered paintings also print great on Canvas and T-shirts with a natural dimension as well. Colorful and all affordable to the celebrity fans, no middle man and charity wins to!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My father always supported my art as a hobby and my mother my creativity and dreams. Multiple painting patrons and collectos Timothy Dulapa and Brian Krauss hold special slots. George Lopez liked my art so much invited me to be at his event which opened other huge doors friending Matt Barnes Athletes vs. Cancer events and other VIP athletes Rodney McLeod, Malcom Jenkins and Dontrelle Inman.
