Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Reiner.
Erica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My background is a weird-but-cool mixed bag. I studied environmental science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. One of my first jobs upon graduation was at a solar energy provider, where I filled my creative side by studying for my certification and course completion in interior decorating. Thinking my two worlds, or halves of me, would never combine, I kept working in the environmental field and eventually went back for a Master’s of Marine Science and Management. After spending more time in the environmental field and educating others on this important topic, I finally decided to combine my two worlds and create a business where design and sustainability could get along and serve as a model for others to practice creative conscious consumerism.
I have come into my own as a designer and a consultant helping people create their ideal commercial or residential space. I specialize in eco-friendly and non-toxic interior designs and landscape designs. With tiered service packages, my goal is to make professional design more accessible and effortlessly earth-friendly.
Currently I am working on a launch where I redefine interior designer retainer services, with a simple subscription offering unlimited & affordable access to professional help for DIYer’s, flippers, apartment rehabbers and the like. On the business front, I am working on getting out there more and sharing more of what I do and how I can help – that’s why I am grateful for this interview!
Has it been a smooth road?
HARD NO. Every step of the way has been a bumbling struggle. From getting people to trust me with my first portfolio-building projects, to misunderstanding clients, to mismanaging time – I have made every failure possible. However, I have always been subject to crippling amounts of self-doubt and insecurities, but I have never let it stop me from pushing to get to the place I want to go. I am forcing myself through these struggles on a path that can only be my own. These days, I am learning to ask for help and reach out. I am embracing my strengths and outsourcing my weaknesses…. each day I get a little more confident and a little more capable.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with E. Leigh Designs – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I help people create personalized and aesthetic spaces that reflect their vision and goals. Sourcing from eco-friendly methods and products, my designs value the earth’s precious resources, without compromising on style or quality. I design both commercial and residential spaces.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Best: There’s endless opportunity for business and pleasure. Also, the beach!
Least: The sprawl makes it hard to find and feel like you have a community. I hate the four lane mega roads that make streets hard to walk and hard to get good vibes from.
