Meet Erica Manni in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Manni.

Erica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in a small town in the North of Italy, called Bergamo. I always had a deep passion for the arts and science and I’ve graduated in Fine Arts before deciding to fully dive into acting. I initially started with theater, at the age of twelve, through the after-school program and I kept taking classes all the way through high-school. In those years my love for acting had deepened, therefore, I decided to move to Roma and follow a private theater academy there. I still didn’t feel fully satisfied and challenged enough, so I decided to move again, first to NY where I graduated the New York Film Academy Conservatory program and then to LA to pursue my tv and film acting career full time.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been an intensely challenging path, but I do love it. When I first moved to NYC I was only twenty-one years old and I didn’t know anyone there nor have I ever visited the city so it was a fully immersive/fully new experience. I was also not as familiar as I am now with English, so the first few months of classes were extremely hard to follow. Nevertheless, I graduated with straight A’s. Another huge challenge along the way has been the legal aspect of trying to work as an artist in the U.S. Laws are very strict and the requirement to obtain an Artist-Visa is of absolute excellence. I am now on my second Visa and I’m currently applying for a Green Card.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Erica Manni story. Tell us more about the business.
I am really proud of everything I have accomplished in the 5 years I’ve been here in the U.S. Considering that I moved by myself from another country I believe I’ve undergone incredible growth, both artistically and as a human being in very little time. I’ve participated in numerous productions and I am currently waiting on a Feature Film I shot last summer to be released in movie theaters. I played a principal role in it as a businesswoman who worked at the Italian Embassy in Nigeria and I had the honor to act alongside Akon, Andrew Howard, Nick Moran, Miguel Nunez, Massi Furlan just to name a few members of the cast.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would love to be part of meaningful productions, in terms of content. I love the direction Tv-Shows have been taking, underlining current social issues and bringing awareness and new prospectives on delicate matters. I can see myself playing a recurring or lead role in a sci-fi or comedy show in the near future, and well, sky is the limit! 🙂
