Meet Eric D of MethSyndicate in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric D.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Eric. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in the Boston Punk and Hardcore scene in the early 2000’s and was always a sucker for good band merch. Also, I was playing in a band I and loved designing our own merch. Towards the end of that era, I just decided to design T-Shirts for my friends that were funny. Instagram was just getting started and I had no idea the power of it. I started getting strangers coming to my personal page and asking me for the shirts I was making.

Fast forward a few years and we were one of the original companies in the “ enamel pin explosion” and that really took us to a new level. Since then it’s even progressed more by utilizing our Instagram stories to be as entertaining as a clothing company could possibly be. We really have no set rules we just do what we like.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always going to be struggles it’s just all about how you handle them. I could complain all day about what’s wrong with this and that but at the end of the day I’m here to create and move forward and not worry about the bootleggers haha.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I wish I had a solid answer for that, but basically, we make whatever dumb ideas pop into my brain. I would say we are very honest to our demographic. A lot of weird hipsters a lot of weird punks and just a lot of crazy rad people in general. I’ve made actual friends, close friends even, with people who started as complete strangers because of this.

As someone who’s a bit of an outsider, I would say that would make me most proud. That and anytime I make someone laugh always brings me joy. We specialize in over the top nonsense. And somehow people dig it. I’ve very thankful for that.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
It is the best place for a business like ours. It has art, creativity, comedy, fashion, entertainment, sex, drugs, and “rock and roll”. This company would be a lot different if it weren’t for LA. For someone starting out, my advice is patience and sticking to your guns. We may be weird, and not everyone may like our style, but hey we’re still here. And still doing our thing.
