Meet Eric Ballew of The Burger House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Ballew.

Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as help on a friend’s food truck after high school. We did many different events and caterings. About a year or so later, I started getting involved with working as a temp cook worker around various kitchens across la including Disney Studios, ABC, and many kitchens and commissaries. After a few years of doing that, I was hired with the LA dodgers as a culinary supervisor, which Catapulted my career in the kitchen industry. After that, I worked with the la kings, Los Angeles rams and helped open the LAFC soccer stadium. The Burger House was born shortly after covid hit. I started my company because I needed to survive due to being laid off. I started as a pop-up selling food to family and friends and shortly after started selling food here and there in the parks. It wasn’t until a good friend of mine, CJ who is now my executive chef, entered the picture when business started to pick up. His company, CJ’S sauce and my company started doing a collaboration that really took The Burger House to the next level.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the biggest challenge for us was keeping consistent customers due to covid.

We’ve been impressed with The Burger House, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a brand, we are most proud of the consistent traction we have been able to build. We have had a few influencers such as LA Foodie and the 818 insider come out to try our food and blog about it. What sets us apart from others is the fact that that we are a company based on a collaboration that grew into a partnership. CJs sauce makes most of the sauces for The Burger House and because of that, we have been able to scale our business and reach so much more clients that way. We are a community-based brand that is selling gourmet food for a reasonable price. We are big on teamwork. Every now and then, we feature some of our friends in the culinary community in order to help them get their name out there as well.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
When I got my first ever Nintendo 64.
