Meet Emilee Amara of Wild N Rooted

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilee Amara.

Emilee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After years of working as an esthetician in different spas throughout Los Angeles, I became bored with the commercial product lines and cookie-cutter approach to skin health and overall wellness.

I decided to branch out into herbalism and shamanism and incorporate it into my practice. Plant medicine wasn’t always on the horizon, but after discovering entheogenic plants, my life began to change.

The benefits of herbs as food and preventative care in our daily routine are so important, I am now more passionate than ever when I teach others about the knowledge I’ve acquired.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is not always easy, I am constantly defending my beliefs in the health industry. The Western way of living involves convenience and little patience.

When using herbal remedies, it takes time and diligence. I am constantly teaching my clients how to care for themselves in a gentle and nourishing way, one that I believe is superior in the long run.

The biggest struggle is knowing that my journey is never ending and that I must always seek the latest discoveries in plant medicine. The skincare industry is ever evolving, and I hope I can continue to be at the forefront of all things beautiful!

Please tell us about Wild N Rooted.
I am a licensed esthetician, but also openly admit that I am a Witch. I am a healer connected to the Earth and use herbs to help people. I walk the path of beauty and trust in spirit that all of my needs will always be met.

My business was formerly known as Gypsy Skin, but after an online squabble with some offended women, I changed the name to Wild N Rooted. This brand means so much to me, and nobody will be able to take that away.

Wild N Rooted Apothecary & Spa is nature-based skincare at its finest, and I hold workshops, circles, and apprenticeships. I make products using my intuition and what is available to me at the time.

Most of the products I use in my facials are organic, handmade, or raw materials provided by Mother Nature herself. I literally put food grade materials on the skin. It is a very farm to facial concept.

Some of my favorite ingredients in my facial medicine masks include Dragons Blood sap, goat milk powder, cacao, and honey.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have created a recipe book! Some of the products that I’ve made in the past have been incredible and received such good feedback.

Since I use my intuition or as I like to say, “Intu-Witchen,” I don’t always measure and oftentimes never re-create the same thing twice.

My facials and my medicine are always custom and unique.
