Meet Elliot Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elliot Jones.

Elliot, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was always an artistic kid so I was always writing songs and like little poems and had musical ideas for as long as I can remember. But I really started taking these ideas seriously when I was about to graduate high school. A mix of my own ambition and naiveté convinced me to move to New York and just figure out a way to make it work, so that’s what I did.

I was taking trips out to LA every summer to work on music, and then I finally decided that it was time to actually live there so that’s how I ended up in LA!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not aha – there is no such thing as a smooth road, no matter how much Instagram tries to convince you that it’s easier for someone else. I think that everyone struggles financially when they’re pursuing their dreams but musicians, specifically, have the creative struggle as well. I’ve learned that nothing you produce will come out the way you want it on the first try or even the fifth try and it takes a lot of patience to achieve something the way you hear it and envisioned it. As I’ve grown as a person and an artist, I’ve also grown to understand that I have to be malleable with my ideas and that I’ll often never be completely satisfied with my art. So now, I just set deadlines for myself and just release the music the way it sounds when I’ve reached that point.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a singer, songwriter, and performer. My music is definitely pop music, which is now a more general term than ever but my pop is the kind that makes you dance and watch the music video over and over again. My audience has grown to expect a killer chorus and an undeniable bop from me and I try my hardest to deliver that over and over again. I’m currently most proud of my latest release called “Emotions”, which is doing really well on Spotify. It’s just the beginning for that song and my career, so I can’t wait for what’s next!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is watching The Wizard of Oz 2, 3, times in a row, everyday after I came home from school. That movie is still magical to me and reminds me of being really young. It always makes me cry and smile at the same time – it’s such a joyous feeling. I try to re-watch it again every year, usually around the holidays.
