Meet Ellie Burgueno-Chico

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Burgueno-Chico.

Ellie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A Polaroid Camera was first placed in my hands by my father right around 4th grade. He was very much my influence when it came to recording memories. He Loved to photograph and capture life’s precious moments. He carried a massive tank of a video recording camera. Now he downsized to a cell phone lol. I officially became passionate about photography in the 9th grade when I got my first used film camera. I immediately started my journey with photography. All through high school. My senior year I was the president of the photo club. Soon after I graduated from FIDM, I mostly used point and shoot cameras, I no longer had my film camera. I still enjoyed capturing everyday life even if it was with my little point and shoot for years. Eventually, I was able to afford my very first DSLR in 2009! That is when It all became A Dream come true! Wow! This was a game changer for me! I became one with my camera. I was being hired to photograph all kinds of events. Weddings is what I truly fell head over heels for.

I knew then I had found what I wanted to do when I grew up! LOL, Yup! I became a professional photographer. Being self-taught was and still is a learning process that will always continue to grow with my business. Now I specialize in weddings, What can say, I am a romantic at heart. I especially love to freeze that perfect moment right when the eyes closed and the lips are about to touch, Fast forward, now ten years as a professional photographer. Three years ago I became a full-time photographer, I freelance now and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life is a lesson, no matter what you are doing you must learn from the experience itself. Good or bad it’s an opportunity to gain knowledge from. Through my parents teachings, I learned at a very young age, six to be exact, to succeed in life you must put in the work. Nothing is free as far as I am concerned, You work hard at what you want and you will eventually gain from your efforts period. If I had to mention my struggles, they were solely because of my choices. Nothing came that easy, everything cost me time and money to get. Thank God for referrals! Most of my clients are referred by past clients. I am also a preferred photographer for a few venues and companies. I also finally have a full set of Canon gear that took me years to acquire. Yes, I am a Canon Girl!

Please tell us about Ellie Burgueno Photography.
Ellie Burgueno Photography started ten years ago. Boudoir being the first of many sessions that got me started. Lifestyle sessions were dominant in my first years. Weddings became a fast favorite right from the beginning, the day I assisted my friend sandy as a second photographer, it became clear that I wanted to specialize in weddings. The significance and the loving energy that surrounds a wedding. Not to mention the romance and all the beautiful details, especially the gorgeous bride and groom. It was more than clear, weddings became my specialty, and here we are today. My photography is whimsical and romantic. I am often kindly complemented on my signature style photography and in my customer service. My clients and friends, say there is something special that they see in my work.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would save more of my profits so I could acquire my gear much sooner. Having back up gear is so important!

  • Lifestyle sessions starting at $250.00 an hour
  • Weddings starting at $1995.00
