Today we’d like to introduce you to Eli Samuel Nichol.
Eli, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been a photographer for over 10 years. I think I may have come out of the womb holding a camera. I have shot most kinds of photography including pictures of family, strangers, events, street life, weddings, studio portraits, concert images, and friends, though I prefer to shoot fashion so I founded SAMUEL VISION to service fashion/editorial and corporate advertising.
In my heart and if you know me, I am a nerd. I am a “photo enthusiast” as well as a passionate photographer.
My dream is to grace the cover of Vogue Italia.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I was second shooting high-end weddings for celebrity clients, when the primary shooter said, ‘shoot the details’ and walked away. after he quickly came back and said ‘What are you doing? Shoot the details!’ I replied ‘I am!’ He said, ‘You are so focused on being creative that you’re losing the necessary wedding. Take an iPhone photo, put your camera on auto for all I care. Get the shot, then move onto being creative!’ That was some of the best advice I have ever had.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Samuel Vision – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I cannot talk about me and not honour my good friend John Hong. He is a world class fashion photographer and he is a close friend of mine. I admire John, he has guided me, inspired me and given me a constantly higher standard to pursue.
Samuel Vision was born out of his guidance and my ambition. I created this company to give back. To create art and beautiful, evocative imagery.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I want my own studio.
