Meet Brian Lee of Elevated Pulse Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Lee.

Brian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was raised in Orange County and moved to New England when I was 10. I remember my parents hiring a DJ for a family celebration – it was truly the first time my entertaining instincts kicked in. By the age of 14, I had enough DJ equipment to start teaching myself how to mix (the fact that my parents listened to those train wreck mixes over and over shows their true love). I soon started DJing for private parties and even my own high school dances. Fast forward 7 years and I would be living back in Orange County, DJing at nightclubs and the occasional wedding. While working weddings I noticed a huge gap in the market for skilled, beat mixing DJs (ones you would see headline at a club) that also knew how to speak eloquently in front of an audience and act as a professional Emcee. Thus, Elevated Pulse Productions was born.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anyone that has success has had a smooth road, and if they did they should be traveling the world sharing their secrets! I’ve experienced all of the common entrepreneurial stressors (i.e. work life balance, employee turnover, financial balance etc…) Especially in our industry, we prioritize excellent client service in the same way we do the relationship with each vendor we work alongside. Our partners trust that we will bring our absolute best to every event, and so it’s essential that every member of our team being highly invested in their craft. Finding the right team members who identify with our approach, particularly for DJ and Lighting Technician positions, has been a challenge in the past. With the growth and expansion of our brand, we look forward to pushing ourselves to the next level!

Please tell us about Elevated Pulse Productions.
I founded Elevated Pulse Productions to bring the innovative sound that was previously reserved for nightclubs and hip private parties to luxury weddings and events. Our boutique brand means we have a close-knit team of the absolute best DJs in the business. Also understanding how integrated entertainment and ambiance are with one another, we also offer event lighting design, photo booth, and AV services for a completely cohesive event. We have become industry leaders in total event production – with completely customized service for every unique celebration. This year, we are excited to bring our DJ expertise bi-coastal to New England, a dream I’m extremely proud is coming to fruition for our company. We are eager to infuse the eclectic vibe of the west coast with the east coast’s quintessential classic style, allowing us to further distinguish ourselves as an innovative event production company.

If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
As they say, hindsight is 20/20. With that, I would have certainly improved some of the internal systems and collaboration amongst team members to improve our efficiency early on. In terms of building our lighting business, I would have focused on conventional lighting sooner as opposed to investing in a lot of LED lighting inventory up front. As we’ve grown in the luxury market, we now understand the difference and benefits of being able to offer both types of lighting. Learning from those ‘growing pains’ offered us the opportunity to refine business operations. Today, Elevated Pulse Productions is a well-oiled machine, firing on all cylinders, and we are thrilled for what’s ahead.
