Meet Elena Von Neitsch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Von Neitsch.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Art was always a big part of my life. Ever since I was little, I’d be always involved in all sorts of “projects”, from singing and dancing to knitting and writing. But desire to paint formed in me shortly after I met my husband. He is a great painter himself, so naturally I fell into it. He is my inspiration!

Please tell us about your art.
I do abstract for the most part. In my opinion it is the most freeing form of expression. There is no right or wrong. Things you see in the abstract painting may vary. It is pure and personal, and yet completely detached. I don’t have a specific technique. When I create a painting I like to use things around the house, it can be anything from a fork and a coffee cup to a plastic bag. I sort of let the painting decide what it wants to be. Some of them were done in half an hour and for the others it took weeks. I like to combine uncombinable. For instance: “The Vanity Fair” series were made with acrylics and Christian Dior nail polish. And I surely don’t understand any of them, they are mystery to me. And if one day I will – I will stop painting.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
One of them is: You can’t get your work shown, produced, or published because you’re not a name brand and you can’t become a name brand until you get your work shown, produced, or published.

The other big challenge for the artists today is the overwhelming amount of Social Media which has an outstanding amount of all sorts of fake “artists” in another words-it’s good old fashion BS. It is hard to see the reality, it shifted. It’s all about likes and “perfect” shots. It is lifeless, soulless and commercialized. And it is hard not to fall into it.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have an online store at where you can buy any of the paintings, as well as order a custom one, and there are a few Galleries in New York and Los Angeles that are interested in exhibiting my work.
