Meet Edwin Arzu of Forest Peak in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Arzu.

Edwin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started in the Bronx, raised by a single mother from Honduras. I remember growing up and my mom, aunts and uncles would always come over and play our native drums and sing but I focused on my love for computers, building them, graphic design, figuring out how I could make them faster, the world within a motherboard. One day while I was walking to class I seen there were having auditions for theatre club at my school and I decided to join. From there, I took a passion for poetry and turned it into songwriting throughout my teenage years & during sophomore year of high school, I would go to a studio in Throgs Neck a neighborhood in The Bronx and started writing songs for pitch with a producer who found me on myspace.

After high school, I dived into writing songs with my friends & creating my own space where I can express my thoughts through my words. Influences like Kid Cudi, The- Dream and Bon Iver showed me the power of expression, through their words & emotion, and how it was okay to be yourself. Being raised in a home with only women, my mother and sisters taught me a great level of expression and being okay with it, and I wanted to shine a light on that after I decided to work on my solo music. Nothing wrong with expressing your emotions, we all feel the same even if we hide it.

But it wasn’t till 2015 when my best friend passed away where I finally seen mortality in my world. I knew then that nothing is possible if you don’t t take the strides to be who you know you could be. So I booked a one way and left The Bronx, not knowing what will happen, but at least being okay with saying “hey I tried” if things failed. Since I’ve been here, I recorded endless amount of songs & created my project “Die To Live Again”, the story of the letting everything go, to be who you know you are; something like a phoenix rising.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never a smooth road, I don’t think it would even be as adventurous if it were, but thats the beauty of it all; trying to make it work. Working jobs you don’t like, staying in touch with friends/losing friends ( I need to call my mom), long nights, figuring where to sleep, being broke, missed my best friends wedding. When it all hits at once it makes you think a lot from within, asking yourself “is it all worth it?” but down deep you know there’s no other choice you’ll go for, except for the moment you’re in.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m an Artist, I’ve been working on a feeling I call Electronic Soul. Took sometime to get to a place where I can fully express myself musically, whether it’s engineering, producing or writing a record. But I feel like I’m known for the expression and color with in my music, my honesty.

But looking forward for everyone to listen to my first single Forbidden.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think my whole life is built off luck, but I also don’t think things are just a coincidence. We all put our minds and soul into things & those ideals manifest into our lives, no matter what we want to do. We make a right turn on a busy street and somehow you bump into the person you’ve wanted to work with, thats just you running into destiny, Maybe I think too deep, but I feel everyone I’ve met. Who’ve helped along the way and been there for me, are a manifestation of the energy I put into the world, a mirror of me.
