Meet Eduardo Sanchez of Sanflor Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eduardo Sanchez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had a passion for storytelling. I shared stories when I competed in poetry competitions like Get Lit and CUPSI. I shared stories when I competed in a dance competition and when I choreographed. Now I share my stories through visual images and videos. I found my passion for cinematography through a friend. He was teaching me to take photos of people while they danced. I wasn’t very good at it.

Then I started videotaping them, and a world of possibilities opened up. I could capture each person’s emotions through their movements and speed. I could share their intimacy and playfulness with others. From there, I began to film other things and see if I could capture emotion as well. Since then, I’ve ventured in dance videos, boudoir videography, wedding videos, and documentaries.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I struggled to learn the basics of camera techniques and composition. With zero formal training, I had to learn through endless hours on youtube, watching other’s explain the ins and outs of videography. I had to learn by working with friends who already did video.

They taught me how to apply the techniques and ways to make my workflow more efficient. I had to do a lot of jobs and work for free just to gain more experience and begin to cultivate my style. One of the hardest parts of this passion is the equipment! It is expensive. There is no way to be half in. You have to dive in head first in order to produce quality content.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is in Sanflor Production. I specialize in creating content for dancers and dance events/festivals. I am known for creating content that is emotional and passionate. I am most proud of my company for being able to venture out past the dance scene and explore different styles.

My company also films short films, creative boudoir videos, romantic couples videos, commercials and promotional videos for other companies. Now, I have joined other artist to created and run different companies. I am a director of the company called Creators Lab which focuses exclusively on the dance scene, and Edge Motion Productions, which produces wedding content.

What sets me apart from other others is that I apply my skills and knowledge to filming any kind of content. I am now heading more towards creating short films and eventually becoming a Director and creating Featured Films.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is a great place to be a cinematographer. Not only does Hollywood create a passion for film in this city, but I have access to a range of environments. I could film at the beach, the desert, downtown, the forest, and much more. I would definitely recommend others to live in LA if they are starting off in cinematography and film.
