Meet Eddie Lopez of Leo’s Window Cleaning in Santa Ana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Lopez.

Eddie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
About 2 years ago my father, Leo, got injured at his job trimming trees for the City. He had to get surgery on his forearm and also had to go to therapy. A year and a half went by and his arm just wasn’t the same anymore. He was always in pain and could not keep up with the work. Finally, my dad and I decided to start window cleaning. We’d figure cleaning windows would be less work for my dad and more comfortable. I was at the time working at a manufacturing warehouse called Iron Grip. Very tough job for me as well. We manufactured dumbbells and all sorts of weights for 24 hour fitness, LA Fitness, lots of universities, military, with customs logos. So, we decided to just quit our jobs and go for it and hope for the best. Getting started was not easy at all. Little by little we started buying our equipment and with very little capital, we definitely gave this business a second thought. We had very little leads and as a startup business we also didn’t have any reviews. Advertising on Craigslist and Facebook wasn’t enough. I suddenly got a call from a representative at Home Advisor and it changed our lives. We them suddenly started getting all these leads from actually customers and we started seeing some profit. A year and a half later we have a loyal customers and high reviews and ratings. We gave it our all to make this work out. Now instead of us calling customers, they call us. Which is so amazing. We always have pride and joy when we do our work and we are priced fairly and reasonable. We are on our way to expanding and getting another crew together to help us out.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not smooth road at all. Finding leads was very hard in the beginning. With no reviews, people didn’t want to hire us. After signing up with home advisor and getting a few reviews, people started to see that we were the real deal. Yelp also reached out and said they could help us out tremendously. Yelp is a well-known place where people get and see reviews so we decided to join. Worst decision of my life. Not only was I not getting any leads but their rate was adding up. After a couple of months arguing with them, they were kind enough to refund my money.

Another obstacle was my schedule. I’m a father of 4 boys and my wife works. I had to manage my time to get home in time in order for her to work and I stay home with the kids because finding a babysitter is hard and very costly. After a few months, I got the hang of it. I’m no longer late.

Leo’s Window Cleaning – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is professional window cleaning. We specialize in window cleaning but we also offer pressure wash, screen replacement and hard water removal. We are known for our father and son teamwork. I think what sets us apart from others is our great customer service.

We cater to whatever our customers need. Even if it’s hanging a small picture frame to removing an old satellite dish. It’s a must to leave the customer satisfied.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is a journey we are still experiencing.

We don’t have any criteria, any job, big or small is just another opportunity for us.
