Meet Eddie Estudillo of Eddie Estudillo & “HUSH” in South Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Estudillo.

Eddie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started playing music in the 60’s with some well-known artists and also recorded on Cadillac Records. After a brief absence from music industry starting in ’74 because of disco music and DJ’s taking over the scene. It seemed to me that something was lost from the good old days of music and that was the entertainment part. I was going from club to club and didn’t see the show groups that were around in the earlier years. So I decided to put a group together in ’95 and call ourselves “HUSH”. We became very popular in nightclub’s, festivals, corporate events and casinos. Because we are not a tribute band and can cover all genera’s we also do private parties and studio work. All of my band members are standalone musicians. We have received music awards and recognition for the work that we do.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road as the life of a musician goes. To keep a group of more than five musicians together and have everyone available at the same time can be difficult at times. The other struggle is competing against start up groups who will play for nothing trying to get exposure. We get hired because we put on a show and are good at what we do. We have been doing this for a long time and have an extensive repertoire of songs. It’s difficult to get good paying gigs on a regular basis in any one area so travel is involved.

Please tell us about Eddie Estudillo & “HUSH”.
The business I run as owner, manager and band leader of the group I call “HUSH”. Our stage name is Eddie Estudillo & “HUSH”. I am the founder, saxophone and lead vocalist in the group. We specialize in performing and entertaining for almost all ages and audiences. WE are known for being able to play all music genres and perform them well. What sets apart other groups is that we are able to give our customers whatever they ask for in performance and music. We work with the host and help plan events that we will be performing at. We also own all of our own equipment for performances.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My most memorable event was winning a talent contest.
