Meet Dylan Watkins of Monster VR in Irvine Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Watkins.

Dylan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started out as a food truck owner until I backed a project on kickstarter call oculus. Oculus head set came in the mail (mind was blown). Started a community in OC for VR developers and enthusiast called OCVR. OC Virtual Reality on Did tons of events, social, educational, vr conferences. Formed a development studio called monster vr. Worked with major brands making virtual and augmented experiences. We have worked with University of Irvine. San Diego Zoo, Disney, Dole, Starwars, William Grant and Sons and many more.

Has it been a smooth road?
Lots of obstacles. Understanding the technology. Understanding how to add value. Losing teammates. Losing potential customers. All the time learning and growing. I am truly grateful for the journey.

We are a virtual and augmented development house. We specialize in multi-user virtual reality experiences. I most proud of the team and the culture we have created. Every person on the team has tremendous heart and talent.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Be willing to have hard conversations early, not be emotionally affected by situations outside my control.
