Meet Drew Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Louis.

Drew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was five years old belting Christina Aguilera in the back of my mom’s minivan, music has been my passion.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio by a super creative family, it would have been weird if I wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer. So from a young age, being a musician was always what I wanted to do.

Music has not only been a passion, but also a lifeline. It truly helped me during the most tragic point in my life when my brother, Alexander died of a heroin overdose. I was ten years old. Through that hard time, singing and songwriting became the escape I needed. I was able to express these complex emotions through song, the thing I knew would always make sense to me.

Since that day, I have written hundreds of songs and really honed in on my writing, producing, and singing. At age 18, I moved across the country to study songwriting at the Los Angeles College of Music. I’ve only been in Los Angeles for one year, and am so thankfully packed with songwriting sessions, on a pretty good trajectory to get a good amount of placements with some bubbling artists this year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My main struggle was the passing of my brother. Processing addiction was hard for a ten years old, let alone processing an overdose. I was fortunate enough to be in therapy shortly after and still be able see the same therapist to this day when I’m back in Cleveland. (Shout out to my girl Holly!)

Along with the passing of my brother, I also had to figure out my sexuality. I am so fortunate to have grown up in a time when the LGBTQ+ community has really been getting major support. By the time I was in high school, gay marriage had been legalized! My family and friends were nothing but supportive and accepting of me, I could not ask for a better support system.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a pop singer, songwriter, and producer!

Currently writing/producing a lot for bubbling artists, as well as TV/Film licensing. Growing up with an eclectic music taste, I am able to adapt to genre’s while centering them to a pop structure and feel.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up in a suburb in Ohio is the epitome of Small Town, USA. Green grass, blue skies, and a whole lot of cornfields.

Christmas time has some of my favorite memories. My life has always been centered around my big family, and we all come home to spend every Christmas together to this day!
