Meet Dream

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dream.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dream. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a singer-songwriter. I was born in New Delhi, India and started singing when I was 12. At thirteen, I learned to play the violin and began writing songs.

At 17, I moved to the UK to study Law and during that time I trained extensively in the areas of voice, songwriting and basic music production. While there, I performed at various clubs and theatres tried to get my music career going,

I moved to LA in 2018 to take my music career to the next level. I performed at Valerie Fahren’s showcase, released new songs and music videos and am currently working on touring this summer.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having comes easy and music isn’t any different. It took me a lot of years to find my voice as an artist and develop my skills to become a professional. I moved several times and had personal tragedies in the family all of which delayed my career and presented challenges. Looking back, it seems like a lot but you get through it one day at a time. However, I think if you love what you do, it gives you the strength to persevere and someday you’ll get where you want to be.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a singer-songwriter. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am diverse. I was born in India, studied in the UK and now live in the US. I’m also a huge fan of Japanese pop culture and music. All these elements add to my artistry and give me a unique point of view.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance. I think the importance of perseverance cannot be underestimated. Career is a long-term game so it’s important to have a long-term mindset. Over time, you tend to face more challenges that test your endurance. Only those who keep going and don’t give in can last until the end. You can do a lot in a year but not as much as you can do in ten years. Or twenty. We live in a generation of instant gratification where we expect success to happen instantly but it often doesn’t happen that way. So, I think perseverance is a really important quality.

Another characteristic that I believe has helped me is having the right team. Working with the right people vastly improves your odds of success and makes work more fun. I am grateful for my wonderful artist development coach Valerie Fahren, my producer Peter Roberts and everybody that did my music videos, promotion, and helped me.
