We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been smooth, I’ve faced many challenges, setbacks, and obstacles along the way, both personally and professionally. At this point, I expect the struggles, but I also embrace them! I believe that everything happens for a reason, and nothing that happens is not without purpose.

Most of the struggles that have come along the way are also the same things that have inspired me to keep moving forward. I would say, once I was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force and returned to California with two young children in tow, while in the midst of a divorce, was a very difficult time for me. I had dreams of becoming a professional singer at that time, but life took me in a direction that I had never dreamed. During that time, I struggled to find a job, housing, and child care for my children and I. After working various jobs, I thought to myself, there has to be more to my life than this. So, I enrolled in night classes in College while working during the day. It was very difficult because during that time, I was really spread thin between trying to provide and spend time with my children while pursuing education in order to secure a better future for us. I’ve gone through so many different setbacks, from having a car accident, in which I was badly injured, to recovering and getting back on track to pursuing my dreams. I’ve faced struggles within my family in which I have had to be the support system. The list can go on and on, but through it all, I persevere, because I know that I have something in me that the world needs, that my children need. I know that nothing is wasted, and because of that, I keep a positive mindset and have realized that a lot of my struggles were necessary to make me the person that I am today. They say pressure makes diamonds right?!
