Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Seetal Cheema.
With an eagerness to learn, interest in the sciences and compassion for humanity, Dr. Cheema attended the University of Miami School of Medicine, New York University, and Harvard Medical School. After mastering studies in Western medicine and attaining board certifications in anesthesia and pain management, she ventured to study healing practices from the East, and completed further education in acupuncture, yoga, and aromatherapy. By combining knowledge from these multiple disciplines, she has learned to provide a safe environment for her patients to heal emotionally and physically in situations of acute care, as well as chronic conditions.
She initially started practicing holistic medicine doing medical acupuncture and yoga therapeutics in Boston in 2013, and then moved to the Los Angeles area in 2016. She currently provides home visits for clients seeking care in women’s health, pediatrics, muscular pain, and cosmetic rejuvenation.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Moving across the country has been an adjustment, and becoming familiar with the big city of Los Angeles. Learning the business paperwork and rules in California, establishing roots and outreach to clients have been some of the struggles thus far. Patience, taking some deep breaths, and faith have helped me see that in time growth will ensue.
Please tell us about Seetal Cheema Wellness.
As a physician board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, I also specialize in medical acupuncture and yoga therapeutics. After a holistic medical examination, I provide a customized, holistic plan of treatment, which may include medications, acupuncture, dietary modifications, or physical therapies. I specifically practice a Japanese style of palpation-based acupuncture to treat a variety of conditions in both adults and children. In this treatment method, the body is first examined for imbalances structurally and energetically. Needles are then placed on acupuncture points, to elicit immediate release of the painful areas.
Medical acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of conditions. Dr. Cheema’s specialty areas include: Cosmetic Rejuvenation, Women’s Health, Muscular Pain, and Pediatrics.
I provide home visits, which is extremely beneficial to help clients relax in their personal surroundings, and also avoid the stress of traffic in a busy city.
I also provide yoga classes in group or individual settings focused on decreasing stress and promoting deep relaxation through mindfulness and attention to the breath and body. Recently, I have been holding workshops on “AcuYoga,” or a combination of acupuncture and yoga. The fusion of these two practices allows one to enter into a deep, calm relaxation. When we enter a more balanced state, we encourage healing and open the path for restoring our physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
