Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Gardner.
Jeremiah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started interning for a marketing firm in Beverly hills during my freshman year of college. This gave me the experience needed to land my first job within the industry by the age of 18. The work that I produced during my time working with Urban Outfitters, Crooks & Castles, Nike, lead me to my first Creative Director position at 23. In my current role of Creative Director with DNA Design Corporation, I focus on amplifying brands through experiential campaigns, product launches, press, partnerships and digital marketing strategies.
Has it been a smooth road?
The primary struggle I faced was age. The majority of corporate executives believe that decision making can ONLY be done effectively by directors with 10+ years experience, which is inaccurate.
Being from the Crenshaw District aided in developing the characteristics needed to overcome adversity.
Have you ever wanted to stop doing what you do and just start over?
Whenever I face difficult moments, quitting is never an option. Many creative individuals face the conflict of producing less fulfilling work as an alternative in order to make ends meet. In your spare time, it is imperative to work on side projects that you are passionate about. These side projects may lead to a more stimulating source of income.
Let’s change gears – is there any advice you’d like to give?
The best advice that I have for others just starting out is to become an intern. Internships give you the working knowledge that universities could never provide.
