Meet DougieTheDon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Douglas Sorro aka DougieTheDon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Douglas. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m DougieTheDon, A rapper out of Van Nuys, CA. I’ve been rapping since I was 12 years old. I was in a rap group called F4 with three of my childhood friends. As time went by I eventually stopped rapping and took interest in basketball. This past November, I felt something calling me back so I decided to start rapping again. Since then I have put out two albums. I have been played on Shade45 XM radio, Weboss radio and I have put out four music Videos with one making it to worldstarhiphop. I was booked to perform at the SXSW festival in Austin, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The moves I have made usually take years for artist to make. I have done this in a matter of months and I recently signed a digital distribution deal with The Orchard Sony. There is so much more to come.

Has it been a smooth road?
As far as moves being made, no. The process itself has been mentally draining due to me expecting perfection from myself. I tend to get depressed especially when I’m about to release a project. I sometimes feel I could have been better because I haven’t reached my full potential. I have a lot of people supporting and depending on me right now and I can’t let them down. Failing is not an option for me.

We’d love to hear more about your music.
I’m in the music industry. I’m a hip-hop/rap artist. I am known for my confident and witty lyrics. I am proud of the heart and spirit I display by pursuing something that I have took a break from for over 15 years. I’m proud of the fact that people truly love what I’m doing and supports it. I think my grind sets me apart from most. I’m obsessed with the process of making music and making moves to put myself in a position to have my music heard.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The city of LA is the best place to do music. You have people from all walks of life who are just dying for something new and creative. All you have to do is grab their attention. If you’re starting out the only advice, I would give you is to pursue your dream no matter the doubt and disbelief you may sometimes have in yourself.
