Meet Dorelis Roman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dorelis Roman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dorelis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started singing when I was a little girl, my Dad would sing me songs and I would harmonize with him. I grew up in Puerto Rico and there mostly everyone is into music, either because they play an instrument, dance or are in a choir so it was very natural for me to be involved in events that had to do with music, which allowed me to become good at singing and aspiring to be professional at it. Once I went to college, after a year of studying medicine, I realized I needed to do what I love and that was becoming a singer.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I’ve had many ups and downs. A lot of closed doors but I have always kept moving forward because I am passionate about singing. I have moved from Puerto Rico to Miami and four years ago, I moved here to Los Angeles in search of new opportunities and to network.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer/songwriter. I just recently launched my Spanish Single called “Quema” which means fire. It talks about love, how the adrenaline of being in love feels like fire burning in your heart. It is a very upbeat and fun song that I am very proud to share with the world.

I have always sung with bands & different musicians as a cover singer but now I want to focus more in my own songwriting and songs.

What sets me apart is my passion, I don’t like to follow what others do or say, I like going with my own flow and doing what my heart feels is right vs trying to imitate others.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself growing as an artist and traveling the world with my music. I see myself making others laugh, dance and have an amazing time listening to my music. I also see myself singing with other great artists that I admire such as Ricky Martin and Shakira.
