Today we’d like to introduce you to Donte Watson.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A kid from New Orleans, LA who saw better for myself & my family. Used basketball to get out of the city, Made it to College where I finished with Two degrees, An Associates degree in Arts from Copiah Lincoln Community College, in Wesson, Mississippi & then Transferred to North Carolina A&T where I received my bachelor’s in Liberal Studies. I gave all I had to the game of basketball and I am grateful that I got to see most of the United States while doing it and also receiving a great education.
After leaving school basketball slowed down a lot, as far as pro opportunities but I didn’t let it stop me. I moved to California & gave it one more shot. After that didn’t work out, I started sharing the knowledge that I have learned over the years about the game and starting training the youth. I’ve always had a passion for music so I told myself this is you because you can be yourself & tell your story because I know it’s a lot that on in this world and I know the great people of the world can relate to it.
Has it been a smooth road?
Hurricane Katrina was one of the toughest obstacles I’ve faced with my family. The Great City of New Orleans lost a lot but we never lost our spirit.🙏🏽
Mental illness was another challenge for me. Dealing with depression because of not continuing my Pro career but giving all my pain to the youth & helping them helped me. I am grateful for the youth!🙏🏽

Donte Watson (JR King24). The best thing that sets me from others is me being myself & giving my spirits to make others smile. God gave me that to share!
