Meet Dominique Denny

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Denny.

Dominique, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a love and passion for acting since I was itty bitty. I have off and on tried to pursue acting for the past few years. After doing classes and not knowing the next steps, I would give up and focus on the “reality” of my life. I went to school to study Early Childhood Education and took on a lead teacher job to teach two years old. Although it was such an awarding job, I felt like I wasn’t totally doing what made me happy. Acting was always in the back of my head. So I decided to get back into it March 2019 and ended up quitting my teaching job to do it full-time. I’m now working at Trader Joe’s part-time, babysitting, and doing Instacart. Luckily, a few months after starting I met my amazing manager, Luna Wise and she introduced me to my amazing agent, Jillian Jean-West. I am now signed with 5J Management and Spark Talent Agency.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it’s definitely not been. Trying to achieve this far fetched dream is much like a rollercoaster, but it’s definitely worth it each time on a set, auditioning, or watching yourself in a film. I’ve dealt with A LOT of ‘NO’s’ and silent replies for auditions (which is a NO). When I was trying to get an agent in San Francisco, I was rejected by EVERY agent I submitted too. And lots of times with the rejection and seeing other actors book/succeed (which I LOVE seeing other actors succeed) it just lessens the belief you have in yourself. It’s hard sometimes but I just push myself out of the ‘funk’ by working hard at my craft, watching motivational videos to push through, and self-care.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actress, model, and dancer. I’m proud of how far I’ve come in such little time and my amazing support system, my family and friends. My goal is to book a tv series as a lead role, a role on a movie that plays in theaters, and to be someone that motivates others to not stop and chase their dreams.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck I’d say got me the opportunities I have now. My manager, my agent, this interview, the path my career is going and so much more to come in the future. I feel that all the energy and effort you put into something, fate makes it worth it in the end. I have so much I want to achieve and impact, there’s no other way then up from here.
