Meet Diana Morales and Sarah Vogels of Creative Communal in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Morales and Sarah Vogels.

Creative Communal started because Diana had hosted successful markets in Virginia Beach under Kreative Village and moved back to her hometown, Long Beach in 2019. She loved hosting makers markets so much and saw a need for something like this here! She reached out to Sarah (they were both vendors at local pop up shops) to help her make this vision of hers a reality. We are freakin’ pumped on this market and huge believers in shopping small – its a lifestyle and a community.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When we started Creative Communal our focus was on bringing together the community. Since we were new to the area, it was difficult to get vendors on board. They wanted to know a bit more information of who we were and what our mission was. The other difficult part was figuring out how to get attendee’s to the events and support these small business who depend on these pop up markets to run their business. As we continue to grow we learn so much on how to make each event bigger and better than the last. We want vendors and attendees to look forward to our Creative Communal Pop Ups – We hope they’ll continue trusting us in bringing the community together.

Please tell us about Creative Communal.
Creative Communal is a pop up makers market geared towards families and anyone looking to shop small and have a good time! Our events are focused around community interaction. There are activities for every age – we want to bring the local community together while supporting small businesses. Each event includes DIY Stations – photo ops – family-friendly activities and most importantly amazing local makers.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Our proudest moment so far would have to be our Golden Road Brew in Anaheim. The weather wasn’t working in our favor and we weren’t sure how we’d be able to pull off our event. We stayed as positive as possible and did everything in our power to make sure that we could make this event a success. While the vendors were setting up it started to drizzle for a tad bit but then it stopped. We manifested some goodness that day. After the sky cleared, it was the most perfect event. We had face painting, awesome photo ops, a sand art DIY Station that crushed it, cookies for the littles to decorate and super talented local makers. We had quite a few NEW additions to that event, and it all just worked out seamlessly. At the end of the event, many of the vendors approached us asking when our next event would be, attendees thanking us for putting this event together and overall it was the best vibes. We were stoked to have been able to start our partnership off with Golden Road in such a positive way and making our first event at their location such a success despite the weather dilemmas.
